001 Moon-light Orbs
Once this orb was yellow. My daughter laughed and called it an egg yolk, so I laughed back and dipped my brush into reds and blues. I wanted orbs, not egg yolks, in the sky.Orbs are intriguing. Many are light reflections upon atmospheric dust. Some are patches of electrical energy, scientifically identifiable but inexplicable. But other well-documented orbs are question-raising mysteries. We ask, are they invisible beings like ghosts or angels: the lighter ones God’s good messengers, sent to do His will, the darker shadowy orbs fallen angels? What about the awe inspiring orbs of light that Christian worshippers sometimes see as they praise God? What lights was James thinking of when He wrote
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. James 1:17 ESV
The light suggested by the visible orbs in my painting is dim, for
Now we see through a glass darkly. 1 Corinthians 13:12 KJV
But a brighter light is shining outside the painting. It’s just about ready to shine into the tree hollow and illuminate the darkness. Maybe it will warm a sleeping creature inside, perhaps it will reveal a secret. So may God’s light shine upon our hearts for
In Your light shall we see light. Psalm 36:9 KJV 2000.
