009 Eyes in the Dark

Always, everywhere, ambivalence— are my worn, wooden kitchen floors shabby or homey? Is today’s pain a curse or a blessing? Are the eyes looking out at the viewer from the darkness around this tree a surrealistic riddle? Or laughing blobs of paint? Might they be hidden creatures? If so, are they wickedly malevolent? Good? Or amoral? Like the eyes of possums, squirrels and coons?  Or might fearful eyes be hiding from shame or for protection? Perhaps they are Godly eyes or the eyes of His prophets, watching through the darkness with insight and understanding. Whatever they are, it’s reassuring to know that nothing is hidden from God.

“Can a man hide in secret places where I cannot see him?” declares the LORD. “Do I not fill the heavens and earth?” declares the LORD.
Jeremiah 23:24 Berean Study Bible.
