Brown Oak in Snow

All mighty oaks that would
from little acorns grow,
will thrust roots deep,
far down below
the wintry blasts of ice and snow.

For mighty oaks will hold
though freezing winds may blow,
and wait in patience,
and increase slow,
and ring by ring
oaks grow to know
that winters come and winters go.
Ginny Emery

The first two lines are a variant echo of both English and American proverbs.
