Don’t these trees look like a close-knit group of bonded friends? Perhaps they are. If so, what are they talking about?

Trees live in communities. God has woven inter-dependence and relationship throughout all of creation. Trees communicate, cooperate and form relationships. Healthy forests share a communal intelligence somewhat like that of insect colonies. They send messages through the same fungal network they use to share food and water. They alert one another to dangers like drought, disease, foraging animals, and insect infestations and they actually respond to threats. There is so much we don’t understand.

Let the trees of the forest sing,
let them sing for joy before the LORD,
for he comes to judge the earth.
1 Chronicles 16:33 NIV
