Places 25: Good Morning

Places 25: Good Morning

Good Morning

What? Waking me up
before the dawn,
expecting me, to praise,
to forget myself
and sing Your song?

No early bird am I.
Deprived of rest,
shivering in wintry cold
wanting warmth and heat
to thaw my frigid hands and feet—
You say to seek for song?

I come up short
in weakness I can only pray,
“Dear Lord, please warm me up today.”

Do I really hear You say?
“Simply ask Me for My grace.
Simply turn to seek My face.
Yield your weary soul to song.
Your fire’s not out, it’s only banked;
vast heat’s contained in fragile skin.
My love’s not quenched in dark or cold,
it dies from hardening within.

“Get up, dear child,
Get up my Bride,
Cold and feeble though you feel,
Begin.
It’s time to bring my presence in.”

As we give thanks and sing God’s praise,
His glory falls, ignites our ways;
He pours out oil, He fans His flames
His Spirit lifts up Jesus’ name.
His Kingdom breaks into our day
When we bend our wills to follow
When we simply trust Him and obey.
